Transport companies face increasing financial burdens due to the increase in road tolls, the introduction of a new CO₂ component from June 1, 2026, and logistical difficulties caused by geopolitical instability. In response, the government is granting a one-time grant of 55 million euros to freight carriers, which is administered by the Road Infrastructure Agency. The application deadline is September 17, 2026.
The scheme is intended for enterprises registered in Bulgaria with a main activity in heavy-duty vehicle transport and paid toll fees through the BG Toll system for 2025. They can apply micro-, small, medium and large enterprises.
The amount of aid will not be the same for all applicants. It will be calculated proportionally to the fees paid by the specific enterprise, relative to the total amount of fees paid by all enterprises admitted to funding. The maximum aid is 300,000 euros for a period of three years, and when determining it, other factors are also taken into account. minimum aid, derived from the enterprise and the related enterprises.
The application deadline is short. Applications are submitted entirely electronically from September 2 to 17, 2026.
